Prince William & Kate Middleton To Marry?
Thursday, October 28th, 2010Rumors have been flying for years now, but new developments seem to indicate an upcoming royal engagement! Will and Kate recently attended a friend’s wedding, and they made quite the entrance walking side by side through the church doors. They usually opt to arrive at different times to avoid being photographed together, but there was no such pretense for this occasion. The UK’s Daily Mail website notes that royal watchers found this to be “very unusual and very significant”. William and Kate’s unified entrance might have a slightly less exciting reason, though…the wedding guest list also included not one, not two, but three of Will’s former flames! Ms. Middleton didn’t seem phased by the potential competition, though, as she laughed and smiled along with Prince William.
If Prince William does propose, Kate Middleton’s engagement ring will likely be one of the world’s most famous pieces of jewelry! Princess Diana’s engagement ring (a stunning oval cut sapphire surrounded by diamonds) is a treasured family heirloom that was bequeathed to William after Diana’s untimely death. Many people feel that this ring represents both the best of times and worst of times, so the engagement would have a bittersweet note to it. If it becomes Kate Middleton’s engagement ring, though, it might signify a new era of joy for the royal family – and all of Great Britain!
Kate has certainly paid her dues, staying loyal to William during their eight year long courtship. Her willingness to stick around – without a ring on her finger – has led many in the media to refer to her as “Waity Katie”. She may just have the last laugh, though, when that legendary ring appears on her finger! According to royal experts, the family tradition would have William waiting until Christmas to ask the Queen for permission to marry. If she gave her blessing, the wedding would likely occur in February. Should we clear our calendars for wedding watch 2011? We sure hope so!
