Pads and Cushions for Clip On Earrings

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

Pads and cushions for clip on earrings eliminate the pain of non-pierced earrings! Many people skip piercing their ears because of the pain, but sometimes non-pierced earrings can be uncomfortable. It’s different for every person, and it depends on the type of earrings you wear, the width of your ear lobes, etc. Sometimes a tight fit is required to keep your non-pierced earring securely in place – so what can you do? Try pads and cushions for clipon earrings to instantly provide a more comfortable fit!

Clip earrings with backs that bend/snap into place are designed to grip your earlobe firmly, but they might feel too tight or too loose. Everyones ears are slightly different , so earrings aren’t necessarily one size fits all. Emitations offers several options to help make those clips more comfy! Our Slide-On Foam Cushion Backs For Clip-On Earrings and Clip-On Earring Cushions slide on to clip earring backings, adding a soft cushion between the metal and your ear. If you want even more padding, our Adhesive Foam Cushions For Clip-On Earrings have two cushions per earring. The adhesive backing helps them to stick securely to the hinged earring back, and the back of the decorative portion of the earring. These give you cushions on both sides of your earlobes for the ultimate in comfort. If your clip earrings are only slightly too tight (or too loose), we have a solution: Comfort Key – Adjusts Clip-On Earrings. This handy tool lets you adjust the tension in your clip backing for an ideal fit!

If you prefer other styles of non-pierced earrings, like screw back earrings or magnetic studs, we have jewelry solutions for those as well. Our Convert-a-Cushion backs work with pierced post earrings, but also with screw earrings. If your screw earring backs completely separate from the earring (like a traditional pierced earring), our Convert-a-Cushion earring backs can be screwed on for an adjustable, comfortable fit. If your screw earring backs are connected to the earring (like a clip-on style earring), our Cushion Solution for Rings and Earrings might be just what you need. You can apply a thin layer of this liquid to protect skin, make a ring fit better, or ease the pinching from non-pierced earrings. Fans of our magnetic earrings will also love Cushion Solution! If you aren’t pleased with the fit of your magnetic studs, be sure to check out our 6mm magnetic backs and 12mm magnetic backings. These replacement magnetic backs work for different sizes of earrings and ears, so you’re sure to find an option that works for you.

There’s no need for pain with non-pierced styles; shop our collection of pads and cushions for clip on earrings today!

Hypoallergenic Earrings & Nickel Free Jewelry

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Hypoallergenic earrings are a necessity for anyone with nickel allergies or sensitive skin. Many people never need hypoallergenic earrings, but others need an entire jewelry box filled with nickel free, hypoallergenic jewelry. If your earlobes have ever felt irritated, itchy, or swollen after wearing earrings, you might want to consider switching to nickel free. Shoppers who struggle with keloids should also stick with hypoallergenic jewelry, and they may need to wear only nickel-free clip earrings.

Many of the alloys used in jewelry contain nickel. Approximately 15% of the U.S. population, however, experiences allergic reactions to nickel. Symptoms can range from itching and redness to blisters or rashes at the point of contact. To be technical for a moment, it’s usually not the nickel itself that people are allergic to, but the metallic salts that are created when the metal comes into contact with perspiration. Traditional sterling silver contains small amounts of nickel, which some may react to. Our nickel free and hypoallergenic earrings allow you to wear incredible jewelry without having to suffer!

Emitations offers a full selection of nickel free hypoallergenic jewelry, including pierced and clip earrings, pendants, bracelets, and rings. We also sell Jeweler’s Skin Guard solution, which can be painted on (much like nail polish) to help alleviate skin irritations and metal sensitivity. This skin guard liquid is a great option for making your current jewelry wearable again – you can use it on earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings, watches, and even buttons. Show your style without experiencing irritation or sensitivity when you shop nickel free jewelry and hypoallergenic earrings from Emitations!

Prince William & Kate Middleton Discuss Diana’s Engagement Ring

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

The whole world is buzzing about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement, so of course everyone tuned in for their first official interview.  Tom Bradby of ITV News got the exclusive sit-down with the royal couple, and Wills spilled about how he proposed to Kate in Kenya:

“I had been carrying it around with me in my rucksack for about three weeks before that and I literally would not let it go, everywhere I went I was keeping hold of it because I knew this thing, if it disappeared I would be in a lot of trouble and because I’d planned it, it went fine. You hear a lot of horror stories about proposing and things going horribly wrong – it went really, really well and I was really pleased she said yes.”

Princess Diana's sapphire & diamond engagement ring

When Bradby inquired about the about Kate Middleton’s engagement ring, both William and Kate chimed in:

TB: It’s a family ring?

William: It is a family ring, yes. It’s my mother’s engagement ring so I thought it was quite nice because obviously she’s not going to be around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all – this was my way of keeping her close to it all.

TB: I guess we better have a look at it. What kind of ring is it, are you an expert?

William: I’m not an expert. I’ve been reliably informed it’s a sapphire with some diamonds. I’m sure everyone recognizes it from previous times.

Miss Middleton: It’s beautiful.

TB: Kate, you’re going to be the envy of many?

Miss Middleton: Well, I just hope I look after it.

Miss Middleton: It’s very, very special.

Already there seem to be two opposing viewpoints on William giving Princess Diana’s ring to Kate Middleton. Some people feel that the ring is a bad idea, and perhaps even cursed! They note that Diana and Charles were ultimately not happy with one another, and that doesn’t bode well for the new couple. Some have mentioned that it seems disrespectful to Diana’s memory to gift her legendary ring to a new princess. Others (like us here at Team Emitations!) think it is a beautiful and sentimental gesture. Prince William could have selected a brand new engagement ring for Kate Middleton, or had Diana’s sapphire re-set. Instead, he kept the original design intact as a way of linking his new bride to his beloved mother. It brings tears to our eyes just thinking about it!

Kate Middleton’s Engagement Ring From Prince William Is Princess Diana’s Ring!

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

The official announcement has been made – Prince William and Kate Middleton are engaged! The royal fiances made their debut at Clarence House, where Kate was photographed wearing the infamous Princess Diana engagement ring. Will we ever be able to think of it as Kate Middleton’s engagement ring? (Or more accurately, Catherine Middleton’s engagement ring, since she has decided to go by her formal name now!) Probably not, but we doubt that Kate minds much! The world is still very much in love with the legendary Princess Diana engagement ring – a stunning oval cut sapphire surrounded by diamonds. Now we can see it in action as Kate Middleton’s engagement ring from Prince William! This sentimental gift says more about welcoming her into the family then any new ring ever could. After a nearly decade long engagement and plenty of media speculation and ridicule, “Waty Katy” gets the last laugh as the newest princess-to-be with possibly the best engagement ring ever…

Earring Adaptors

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

If you love our pierced earring styles, but wish you could find some earring adaptors to make them non-pierced…you’re in luck! Emitations offers earring adaptors for both stud and dangle earrings in silver and gold tones. Our original clip converters are perfect for pierced post back earrings, like our CZ studs and button earrings. Our dangle clip converters give you even more options, by providing a barrel clip backing that you can attach charms or dangle earrings to. We also offer pierced dangle earring creator sets, which give you the pierced backings, jump rings, and stabilizer discs. Voila – an instant pair of adapted pierced dangle earrings from your favorite old, damaged, or re-purposed jewelry items.

Our customers with pierced ears need earring adaptors for other reasons- perhaps because of sensitivity to standard earring backings, or just to provide a more secure fit. Our LobeLovers Titanium Pierced Earring Backs are the perfect solution! You can convert any pierced post backing earring into a titanium backed earring. LobeLovers titanium pierced earring backs eliminate discomfort, irritations, discoloration, soreness, and infection that often occurs when wearing pierced earrings! The three piece system features a hollow titanium sleeve, an optional plastic stabilizer disc, and an anchor disk. Titanium is a hypo-allergenic metal renowned for its “wearer-friendly” properties, and these backs can be worn for weeks at a time!

Emitations has an amazing selection of magnetic and clip-on earrings, but not ALL of our earrings are available in non-pierced styles. Adhesive Clips can quickly turn any earring into a clip-on! Plus, you can also use them to bring new life to broken jewelry. Just remove the post backing from your favorite pierced earrings, or make sure your old broken earrings have a smooth back. Each pack contains one pair of self adhesive clips, which firmly affix to the back of your earrings. They can also be used to turn any lightweight gem or bauble into a pair of chic clip-on earrings!

Some of today’s most fashionable earring styles – chandeliers, heavy hoops, and dangles – can tend to pinch or droop! Our Convert-a-Cushion earring backings are perfect for supporting whatever fashions you care to wear. The comfortable thick plastic discs replace traditional metal post backing clips, and give earlobes the extra strength needed for big and/or heavy earrings. They also work with screw-back earrings, so your earlobes can stay comfortable no matter what accessories you choose. Emitations also offers poly pierced earring backs and rubber pierced earring backs, so you can choose the material and style that works best for you. Shop our collection of non-pierced earring jewelry solutions (which includes adhesive clip adaptors, dangle clip converters, and screw earring backs) and pierced earring jewelry solutions (includes our premium rubber earring backs, poly earring backs, ear nut backings, and earring adaptor kit) to add more earrings options to your jewelry box!

Evil Eye Jewelry

Evil eye necklaces and charms

“The evil eye is said to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck- well I think this one does exactly that! Not only is it the most stunning and elegant evil eye jewelry out there, I always get compliments which brings positive energy my way :) It is fun and elegant at the same time. Will be a statement piece and become a signature in your collection.”
-Brooke, TN

Evil eye jewelry has been around since the very earliest days of recorded history – and it is still found all over the world today! Our shoppers usually wear evil eye jewelry for one of three reasons: fashion, faith, or fear. Fashion speaks for itself – the quirky shape lends itself to unique evil eye bracelets, evil eye necklaces, and evil eye charms. Faith is probably the most common reason for buying and wearing evil eye jewelry, and has been such for thousands of years. The Turkish Evil Eye is one of the more recognizable evil eye designs, with a shining blue stone to represent happiness and good energy. Other religions have incorporated evil eyes within hamsa hand jewelry (also known as the Hand of Miriam or Hand of Fatima). Some evil eye jewelry looks very much like a literal eye, complete with lids and sometimes eyelashes. More traditional evil eye designs are the rounded blue bead, which may have rings of black, white, or yellow inside. The final reason, fear, is really more superstition. This often ties in with faith, because many religions across the globe consider the evil eye to be a powerful talisman to ward off evil spirits. Some people who are not particularly religious still respect and fear the power of the evil eye amulet. Our shoppers seem to buy evil eye bracelets and evil eye necklaces for all three reasons! Would you wear an evil eye bead or evil eye charm? If so, what reason resonates most with you?
