Hollywood has been buzzing recently with rumors of meddling fathers!

First we heard about Papa Joe Simpson, who has clearly been all up in daughter Jessica’s love life since the Nick Lachey days. Supposedly, new beau Tony Romo laid down the law for Jess – if they got back together, dad had to butt out! Joe makes no apologies for his heavy handed managerial style, saying that as a father he is only working in his daughter’s best interests. Umm, hey, Mr. S…acting as a media pimp doesn’t really count as “best interests”!

Tony and Jessica are still on shaky grounds, and Joe isn’t helping. Word is that he’s now pushing Tony to ditch his current manager, and appoint Joe in charge instead. Let’s hope Tony Romo mans up off the field as well as on, and holds firm with the wannabe dad-ager.

Next came reports of Britney’s dad – and savior – Jamie Spears. After pulling his daughter back from the brink, Jamie is now rumored to be taking the control a bit too far. The magazines are saying that Jamie has been buttering Kevin up with golf trips, expensive watches, and the promise of a generous multi-million dollar account…contingent on him getting back together with ex-wife Britney Spears.

Supposedly the 5 mil isn’t enough, though, and K-Fed is holding out for more cash! Personally we hope they get back together, if only because Brit didn’t start flashing her naughty bits and acting loco until after Kevin was gone. Maybe those two crazy kids are actually meant to be together! See how happy they look here….

Has the apocalypse finally arrived? We can’t think of another explanation for the ridiculous “honors” bestowed upon Kevin Federline and Dina Lohan. In an obvious publicity stunt, K-Fed was named “Father of the Year” by Las Vegas night club Prive. Based on what, sheer ability to procreate?

No offense to Kevin, who seems to have done a heck of a job of parenting in the middle of the hurricane that is Britney Spears…but father of the year? Come on now! If they amend it to, say, “Club Daddy of the Year” or “Best Parent by Default”, perhaps. At least there is a some basis in reality for this so-called award, because Kevin does at least demonstrate love and concern for his children. He even tries to keep them out of the spotlight, so we will give him some credit for that.

No credit, though, for Lady Lohan! Dina Lohan, stage mother extraordinaire, was dubbed “Mother of the Year” by the Long Island “Mingling Moms”. Long Island always seemed like a normal place, but now we’re seriously doubting the quality of parenting going on there.

Technically the title is “Long Island Top Mom”, but the (skewed) sentiment is the same. Dina has made a name for herself by pushing her children into show business, partying like a 21 year old celebutante, battling it out in court with her also horrific ex-husband Michael Lohan, and now her Living Lohan show, which subjects her children to the horrors of reality television. Thanks mom!

Nick might be worth sharing, but is the ring?

It’s pretty hard to for Hollywood types to actually shock us anymore, but Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have done just that! Aside from their age difference – Mariah is 38, and Nick is 27 – the couple has only been dating for a few months, max. The real drama, though, comes from the already infamous Nick Cannon/Mariah Carey engagement ring. Pictures show Mariah wearing a huge diamond, set in a pave border and accented with more bling along the sides. Given Nick’s success in music, movies, and television, and Mariah’s multi-platinum record sales, this all seems pretty standard, right? Wrong!

As soon as Mariah was seen sporting her bling, fans and media alike noticed something a bit suspicious. Just last year, Nick was engaged to Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks, and her ring looked an awful lot like the one now worn by Ms. Carey - or should we say Ms. Cannon?! Further gossip reports that an impromptu Cannon and Carey wedding happened in a tropical location just last week. The timing has raised eyebrows, though, because Mariah just happens to have released a new album, while Nick has four films coming out in the next year. Seems like a prime time to generate some buzz, dontcha think?

We’ve seen the pictures, and the two rings do look remarkably similar. Even if they aren’t the exact same piece of bling, you’d think that the reigning pop diva would demand something a bit more unique. She can’t be happy that her wedding is already best known for a recycled ring! She might just take back her hit single request to “Touch My Body” and instead tell Nick to get (Wild ‘N) Out! Maybe Cannon should take a cue from Kobe Bryant, and buy Mariah an “apology diamond” to make up for this fashion faux pas. Did Nick re-gift any diamonds to former flames such as Christina Milian? We bet they’re checking their jewelry boxes right now…

Page Six reported that fashion designer Stella McCartney delivered a low blow to her former step-mother Heather Mills. Their relationship never seemed all that great, especially with Mills spouting off insults to a multitude of media outlets recently. Last week (on live television, no less!), Mills ranted:

“I can’t protect her any longer. She wasn’t interested in her dad’s happiness. Every week she tried to break up my marriage to Paul. She’s done some evil, evil things. She scraped my face out of a photo when they were in a psychiatric session together.”

In response, Stella leaked news of a controversial piece from her brand new jewelry collection…a pendant in the shape of a SINGLE LEG! Clearly at jab at Mills, who had one leg amputated below the knee in 1993, the necklace has already caught the attention of the media and Stella’s (former?) fans. No word yet on the response from Mills, but given her history, there’s no way she’s just going to let this one slide.

Emitations is all about providing affordable faux versions of celebrity jewelry, but this is one bling trend that we won’t be imitating…

UPDATE!! Reputable media sources say this is purely gossip, and no such pendant was actually created. Guess they were all just pulling our leg…
