Celebrity Rings - Candice Crawford

He was a football quarter back, and she was a beauty pageant star.  After dating country singer Carrie Underwood, and his much publicized relationship with pop star Jessica Simpson, NFL Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo proposed to the lower key Candice Crawford.  Dating all fun loving – all American blondes, Tony definitely knew his type, but felt an even greater connection with Candice.

Candice majored in both journalism and business at the University of Missouri.  During her time there, she competed regularly eventually winning the Missouri Miss USA pageant and placing top ten in the Miss USA pageant.  While in Columbia, Missouri, Candice also worked with the local NBC affiliate KOMU-TV as a reporter, as well as the the CBS afilliate KTVT which often covered the Dallas Cowboys.  Tony reported that he fell for the beauty pageant star and future anchor by saying, “She’s just down to earth and has a good heart. She gets along with anybody and anytime you meet her you can’t help but just enjoy being in her company.”

After the proposal, the couple both took the time to plan the wedding of their dreams, and hired celebrity wedding planner Todd Fiscus to do the job.  When asked how Candice felt about the wedding and her dress she said, “It’s one of those things you look forward to when you were five. I haven’t even had the big meeting with designers to show me all the stuff so they’re kind of concocting something in their heads and I’m sure they’re going to make it way beyond anything I could think of.”

The big day took place in Dallas, Texas on May 28th,  and Tony and Candice’s wedding proved to be being bigger both of them have every dreamed of and more as their wedding video trailer that leaked on the internet showed.  Complete with high-quality editing, a wedding cake almost as tall as the ceiling, a gorgeous custom-made wedding dress, and a glamorous reception, the wedding appears to be nothing short of a fairytale. We were also swooned when Tony Romo romantically said within his vows to Candice,“”I always dreamed of who my wife would be, what she would look like. What her personality would be. Standing with you at this moment. I’ve never more sure about anything in my life.” And this is only the movie trailer – goes to show that everything is bigger in Texas!

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

kate-middleton-ring-galaThis past week, the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge, William and Kate Middleton, made headlines at the 10th Annual Absolute Return for Kids charity gala. This was the couple’s very first official public appearance, since their fairy tale royal wedding in April. Nonetheless, Kate Middleton looked as stunning as ever. A-List stars flocked to Kensington Palace for the event in London, England.

The new Dutchess of Cambridge sat next to Prince Pavlos of Greece, while her husband Prince William sat nestled between Marle Chantal of Greece and Debbie Van Bismarck. Even though Middleton wasn’t seated next to William, Kate still stole the spotlight, wearing a ravishing rose-colored, silk tulle gown, exclusively from British designer Jenny Packham’s 2011 collection, complete with Swarovski crystal and sequin beading. Kate completed her look with a matching pair of rose-colored heels, by L.K. Bennett, along with a pair of gorgeous drop earrings. A Special “View” of the Royal Wedding

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

The women of ABC’s daytime talk show, ‘The View‘, broadcasted ‘A Royal Wedding Special’ episode devoted to the highly anticipated wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William.  Barbara Walters herself reported on the spectacular event live from London, while the rest of the ladies donned their own royal toppers in NYC for the fancy event.  Even though movie star Goldie Hawn filled in for Babs during the special, the biggest guest star of all was the Emitations Inspired by Kate Middleton ring.

The beautiful sterling silver faux sapphire ring was one of the many princess inspired looks presented by Zanna Roberts Rossi, Senior Fashion Editor at Marie Claire Magazine.  Featuring some of Kate’s most famous and glamorous looks, the gals were inspired to have a royal wedding runway show of their own.  The hosts surprised the audience, and sent each woman home with her very own Inspired Kate Middleton engagement ring, courtesy of Emitations.

“Sales on Emitations.com initially spiked 400% following the announcement (of the royal engagement), and recently spiked to the highest levels since Christmas. About a 400% increase since two weeks ago, (Emitations.com owner) Mai expects this to continue for another few weeks, although perhaps not at the same rate,” says MediaPost.com.

Royal Blues – What’s in a Sapphire?

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Since the engagement of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, the classic diamond engagement ring look has been replaced by the elegant blue sapphire. A favorite of royalty, this gemstone reportedly contains special powers, and is considered a symbol of sincerity and truth. There is no doubt that sapphires hold a beauty and sophistication unparalleled by other gemstones. What makes sapphires so unique? How can we achieve this pricey look for less?  Emitations has gathered amazing imitation sapphires that will make you look like you belong in a palace!

Sapphires fall into the corundum family of gemstones. Corundum (a gemstone term form aluminum and oxygen) is second only to diamond in hardness, and sapphires are the birthstone for the month of September. Sapphires are naturally found in over 20 countries around the world, including the United States.

While most people associate sapphires with the color blue, real sapphires are available in a rainbow of colors. Natural blue sapphires range in color from pale to dark blue, bluish green, and violet blue, but sapphires also come in yellow, brown, reddish orange, opaque black and pink - every color except for red. Red corundum is called a ruby.  Gemologists typically prefer a blue sapphire with a darker, deeper tone, because in lighter tones the natural inclusions are more noticeable. Generally, the clearer and more vivid the color, the more valuable the sapphire.

If you’re  looking for a quality imitation blue sapphire, try to get the color closest to the real deal. Good faux blue sapphires are a deep saturated blue or violet-blue with a even tone. Lighter blue imitation sapphires can be just as lovely, if properly made. Gem experts believe that darker stones in a rich deep blue look more believable than their paler counterparts.

Quality faux sapphires have the same look as natural sapphires, but there are a few subtle differences:

  • A naturally produced sapphire will have some flaws in it. A synthetically produced one will not have defined flaws or inclusions
  • The color of a fake sapphire will be more uniform than the irregular color of a natural sapphire
  • Fake sapphires cost significantly less than their natural counterpart, making them an affordable luxury accessory

Buyer beware! Not all companies have high standards when it comes to selling fake sapphires. Here’s a few warning signs that may tell you to look elsewhere for your faux blue bauble:

  • A fake or lab created sapphire that looks too light, clear or pure (like blue glass)
  • Shades of gray and/or brown in a blue sapphire
  • Defined cracks or inclusions very obvious to the naked eye

At Emitations, we pride ourselves in providing our discerning customers with the finest collection of faux sapphire jewelry available. We scour the world for the highest quality imitation stones, so you can achieve a royal blue jewelry look for less!

What’s the Difference? Princess Diana Ring vs. Kate Middleton Ring

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Our customers keep asking us: What is the Difference Between the Kate Middleton Ring & the Princess Diana Ring?

For our loyal customers seeking royal fabulousness, many remain curious about the difference between Emitation.com’s two faux sapphire engagement rings: the Inspired by Kate Middleton Ring and the Princess Diana Inspired Ring.  Although the beautiful sapphire ring currently adorning Kate Middleton’s hand was the same exact ring that Princess Diana once wore, our royal inspired rings have subtle differences.

First, there’s the price.  Our Kate Middleton ring is priced significantly lower than the Princess Diana ring. Why the price gap?  The difference lies in the actual metallic composition of the rings.  The Kate Middleton ring is brass based silver tone, whereas the Princess Diana ring is made solely of sterling silver.  Additionally, the Princess Diana ring boasts a rhodium electroplated coating, giving it a sparkly luster that is similar to platinum.

Differences aside, the two rings share the exact same dimensions, carat weight and band width, making them appear virtually identical. The two rings also have the same oval cut faux sapphire center stones in prong settings, which are surrounded by sixteen clear round cut cubic zirconias.  Both rings are exceptionally stunning and we know you’ll love them as much as we do.  But don’t just take our word for it, check out what customers who bought these rings had to say today! Give someone the gift of romance with our Inspired by Kate Middleton Ring and Princess Diana Inspired Ring!

Royal Engagement

Friday, April 1st, 2011

The world is buzzing about Prince William’s recent engagement to his fiancé Kate Middleton.  Since the news of the engagement broke, questions surfaced quickly: How did the two meet?  When and how did Prince William propose? Like you, we here at Emitations can’t wait to see this fairytale romance unfold, and are happy to reveal the inside scoop!

The famed couple first met in 2001 while attending the University of Andrews.  Though they lived near each other at St Salvator’s Hall of Residence, London’s favorite fashionista caught Prince William’s eye in a sheer lace black dress at a charity fashion show the next spring.   The two became roommates that same year when they moved into a flat with a group of mutual friends, but didn’t become an official couple until a 2003 ski trip.  It was on that trip that Prince William proclaimed that he intended to focus on his flying career (he is an RAF Search and Rescue helicopter pilot) and didn’t plan on marrying until he late twenties or early thirties.

Fast forward to February 2010: William remarks “You’ll have to wait a while yet” when asked by the media about the prospect of a royal wedding.  Only a few months later, Prince William surprised Kate with a proposal during a holiday trip to a friend’s estate in Kenya. Presenting her with his mother’s ring, Kate happily accepted the famous sapphire stunner that once belonged to Princess Diana. William said that giving his bride-to-be his mother’s engagement ring is his way of, “keeping her close to it all.“

Price William and Kate Middleton are scheduled to marry at the historical Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.  Once wed, Kate will be noted as the first commoner to marry into the royal family since 1660.

Man-gagement Rings – I Do or I Don’t?

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Since ancient times, marriages have been symbolized by the wearing of rings. Conventionally, the woman’s ring is presented as a betrothal gift by a man while he proposes marriage or directly after she accepts his marriage proposal. It represents their love and a commitment to future marriage. If you really think about it, why wouldn’t the man wear an engagement ring also? Yet, I bet if you ask 10 random men, most of them would say they would never wear an engagement ring.  Most of their reasoning would probably be based on the idea that it is a tradition for the woman, not the man.

Is this fair? In this modern age, why are women the only ones to have a physical symbol and daily reminder of devotion before the big day? This article is for those few men who say they are open to the idea of wearing an engagement ring – a man-gagement ring.  We asked our Facebook fans what they thought of the man-gagement ring concept and the majority absolutely love the idea! One of our fans said, “Its romantic and a reminder of each other’s commitment.”  Such a sweet thought that the rings are a representation of your love even before tying the knot! In fact, there have been some male celebrities that have recently been photographed wearing man-gagement ring.  This just might be the beginning of a new trend!

Canadian crooner Michael Buble isn’t waiting for his upcoming nuptials before sporting some metal on his ring finger. Buble, who is engaged to his Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, wears a simple gold man-gagement ring. True to Argentine custom, Michael is embracing the family “tradition” in his fiancé’s family by wearing the simple gold band on his ring finger. The jazz singer says he likes the South American custom where, “the boy also wears the engagement ring.”

Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson took the reins with her engagement to David Otunga (former I Love New York 2 star, Punk). David romantically proposed to Jennifer on her 27th birthday with a stunning platinum ring by jeweler to the stars, Neil Lane. The 5-carat round center stone surrounded by diamonds engagement ring has a vintage feel with modern accents. Not to be outdone, Jennifer wanted to get her man some bling of his own! She then re-proposed with an equally impressive 5-carat diamond and platinum man-gagement ring. Neil lane, who designed both custom rings, loves the idea of man-gagement rings, saying, “It was very sentimental and romantic … They are really in love.”

Emitations.com offers a great selection of men’s eternity bands perfect for the engagement ring or the wedding band! Men’s stainless steel rings, men’s eternity bands and men’s rings are all great options for your beau.   If you are looking to present your man with his own engagement ring, look no further than Emitations.com!   Since the male version of the engagement ring won’t be a lifetime jewelry piece because it will eventually be replaced by the wedding band, it is financially smart to find an affordable band.  The key to finding the man-gagement ring that is perfect for the groom-to-be includes a ring that works well with your boyfriend’s style and with your wallet.

Angelina Jolie’s Signature Red Carpet Color – Emerald!

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Angelina Jolie is an actress, a mother of 6 , a longtime partner of gorgeous Brad Pitt, a philanthropist, a Goodwill Ambassador and one of the most beautiful women in the world.  Needless to say she has a lot going for her!  This is why so many women look to her for fashion trends and the cutting edge of the best styles.

Angelina Jolie typically sticks to her signature style when she attends red carpet premieres or award shows.  Her standard is a conservative black dress with a pair of bright emerald earrings.  Even though it is her stand by look and color palette, she somehow seems to wow the magazines and photographers every time she shows up in her black and emerald jewerly look.  Since her unique face could draw anyone’s attention to her, she doesn’t need to worry as much about drawing attention from bold fashion.

At the 2011 Golden Globes, Angelina Jolie broke off from her signature black dress for a more daring sparkling emerald green dress.  However, she still stuck to one of her signature items – her emerald earrings.  This time her earrrings were simple emerald studs set in gold.  Emitations allows you to steal Angelina Jolie’s Golden Globe style for a lot less with Emitation’s Emerald Jewelry Collection.
