The TV flick averaged 8.9 million total viewers at 8-10 p.m. Friday, making it the cable network’s second-most-watched original movie ever – behind High School Musical 2 (17.2 million) – according to the ratings peeps at Nielsen.

However, Camp Rock did outperform the original High School Musical, which debuted in January 2006 to 7.7 million viewers.

The Disney Channel is doing it again! Last Wednesday, the station premiered the latest in their string of super successful made-for-TV movies. Camp Rock features up and coming star Demi Lovato, and tween heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers!

Disney has been making movies like this for years now, but they found just the right combination when they paired Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens for High School Musical. The much anticipated sequel, High School Musical 2, garnered even more fame and fortune for Disney, and the upcoming three-quel (appropriately named High School Musical 3) is sure to do the same. Now, Disney has another surefire hit on hand – Camp Rock!

This movie combines the song and dance theme of High School Musical with the hottest hunks on the tween and teen scene: Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas. They also included some new faces, like the female lead Demi Lovato. The four stars looked especially stylish at the New York premiere of the movie, where they arrived dressed in their most fashionable threads. The Joe Bros wore matching suits, complete with dress shoes and pocket silks. Demi wore a sassy little black dress, which look stunning against her tousled hair. Don’t forget to watch – or record – Camp Rock, which premieres Friday June 20th, only on Disney!
