As we draw closer to 2012, we can’t forget all the fabulous celebrity looks and styles from 2011! This past week, ArcaMax counted down its Top Ten Celebrity Jewelry Trends of 2011. This list of hot, signature trends was inspired by celebrities from Penelope Cruz to Rihanna. Let’s take a dazzling trip down celeb memory lane and see which styles made the cut!

One style that stood out from the rest featured big and bold jewelry pieces. Red carpet regulars like Eva Mendez, Tyra Banks and Beyonce were named on this list for having such bold, audacious accessories. Pop star Rihanna also made the list for that famous chunky gold chain necklace she was seen wearing during a special live performance on the Today Show. The very moment when you’re asked the big question and you finally see that dazzling diamond ring for the first time, we all imagine ourselves seeing stars. However, if you look a little closer, you may be seeing hearts and arrows as well! Maybe you’ve heard about these hearts, maybe you’ve seen these arrows; here’s a little knowledge behind this heart and arrow pattern and what it means for your diamond.

When mentioning the heart and arrow pattern found on a diamond, each design can be found on opposite sides of the stone, usually under a microscope. Keep in mind your diamond must have been cut specifically to visually render these patterns. If you view your diamond from the top, namely focusing on its flat surface, you’ll see a circular pattern of arrow shapes pointing outward. If it’s possible to view your stone from below, namely from the opposite side, you’ll see a circular pattern of hearts.

What does this pattern mean? This heart and arrow pattern is just a way to demonstrate an exquisite cut, meaning that your diamond should look extremely symmetrical. Keep in mind that this heart and arrow pattern does not measure a stone’s brilliance, but rather simply measures the degree of symmetry. It is very possible to produce this pattern with a lower quality diamond. In fact, some experts advise some jewelers not to produce this heart and arrow pattern on diamonds 10 carats and above, since diamonds of that carat weight are already typically high performing.

A fast growing number of fashionistas are falling in love with rhodium electroplated jewelry. So what’s so great about this rhodium electroplating? For those of us who aren’t used to wearing a white lab coat and safety goggles, here’s the run down on rhodium electroplating for jewelry. Rhodium itself is a member of the platinum metal family and is extremely resistant to most acidic and corrosive substances. When it comes to jewelry, a rhodium coating is placed onto metal jewelry through an electroplating process. So if you’re planning on wearing that favorite ring or bracelet of yours, this electroplating will help keep your bling protected, shiny, and fabulous.

If you’re thinking about whether to rock an uncoated silver ring versus a rhodium electroplated ring, there are some pros and cons when it comes to the amount of reflectivity and luster to expect from both choices. On one hand, the uncoated silver ring will reflect just a tad more light than the electroplated ring. On the other hand, the rhodium electroplated ring will maintain its absolutely brilliant shine for a longer period of time. In fact, stays bright and shiny under almost all atmospheric conditions. What does this mean for you? This means that you’ll still rock the same amount of glam whether you’re trekking through the Amazon jungle or hiking in the piercing cold Swiss Alps.

It’s good to remember that rhodium electroplating is very flexible and nearly weightless, so it won’t hide any imperfections on the jewelry surface below the coating. He was a football quarter back, and she was a beauty pageant star.  After dating country singer Carrie Underwood, and his much publicized relationship with pop star Jessica Simpson, NFL Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo proposed to the lower key Candice Crawford.  Dating all fun loving – all American blondes, Tony definitely knew his type, but felt an even greater connection with Candice.

Candice majored in both journalism and business at the University of Missouri.  During her time there, she competed regularly eventually winning the Missouri Miss USA pageant and placing top ten in the Miss USA pageant.  While in Columbia, Missouri, Candice also worked with the local NBC affiliate KOMU-TV as a reporter, as well as the the CBS afilliate KTVT which often covered the Dallas Cowboys.  Tony reported that he fell for the beauty pageant star and future anchor by saying, “She’s just down to earth and has a good heart. She gets along with anybody and anytime you meet her you can’t help but just enjoy being in her company.”

After the proposal, the couple both took the time to plan the wedding of their dreams, and hired celebrity wedding planner Todd Fiscus to do the job.  When asked how Candice felt about the wedding and her dress she said, “It’s one of those things you look forward to when you were five. I haven’t even had the big meeting with designers to show me all the stuff so they’re kind of concocting something in their heads and I’m sure they’re going to make it way beyond anything I could think of.”

The big day took place in Dallas, Texas on May 28^th,  and Tony and Candice’s wedding proved to be being bigger both of them have every dreamed of and more as their wedding video trailer that leaked on the internet showed.  Complete with high-quality editing, a wedding cake almost as tall as the ceiling, a gorgeous custom-made wedding dress, and a glamorous reception, the wedding appears to be nothing short of a fairytale. We were also swooned when Tony Romo romantically said within his vows to Candice,“”I always dreamed of who my wife would be, what she would look like. What her personality would be. Standing with you at this moment. I’ve never more sure about anything in my life.” And this is only the movie trailer – goes to show that everything is bigger in Texas!
