This year the remark, Happy Holidays!, seems synonymous with, Congratulations on your Engagement!  There must be something in the water because winter of 2010 has seen a huge surge in celebrity engagements.  We have counted over 15 announcements in the past 2 months!  Everyone from Prince William and Kate Middleton to the Playboy couple, Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris, has announced their very happy news.

Cat fight! After getting serious heat from PETA, Jessica Simpson is getting schooled by Pamela Anderson. Pam found Jessica’s shirt so offensive that she called Jess out during a radio interview in Australia. She didn’t say more than a couple sentences, but that was enough for a MAJOR burn:

Jessica Simpson hasn’t been under media fire in a while, at least compared to her rash of airhead moments back when Newlyweds was on. That may be changing, though, because she’s definitely made a new enemy!  She was spotted at the airport, wearing a shirt that proclaimed “Real Girls Eat Meat”. Animal advocacy group PETA was all over it, quickly denouncing her on their blog. Besides the doctored image (shown below), they also had a list of  the “top five reasons that only stupid girls brag about eating meat”…

Granted, Jess is from Texas, where meat is considered an extremely important food group. But PETA isn’t known for making exceptions, so the criticism isn’t exactly surprising. Here is the top 5 list that PETA blogger Christine came up with:

“1. Meat increases the risk of breast cancer. A 2007 study of 35,000 women published in the British Journal of Cancer found that women who ate meat were far more likely to develop breast cancer than women who consumed none. Will Jessica’s next t-shirt will say, “Real Girls Smoke 3 Packs a Day”?

2. Real girls don’t support animal abuse. Compassion is super sexy, if the huge number of hot celebs ditching meat is any indication. Young women turn vegetarian in droves when they learn that the meat industry cuts the sensitive beaks off newborn chicks and cuts off the tails of baby piglets.

3. The meat industry is destroying the Earth. The only thing that’s hot about the meat industry is that it’s toasting the planet. According to the United Nations, raising animals for food causes more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, SUVs, planes, and ships in the world combined.

4. Meat will make you fat. All the saturated fat and cholesterol in chicken wings, pork chops, and steak eventually leads to flabby thighs and love handles. I hope the upcoming “Jessica Simpson’s Intimates” line comes in plus sizes! Going vegetarian is the best way to get slim and stay that way.

5. Eating meat steals food from starving kids. Jessica’s trip to help kids in Africa got a lot of media buzz, but by gnawing on meat, she’s essentially stealing food from the mouths of starving children since it takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce just 1 pound of meat. If more people went vegetarian, we’d free up enough grain to feed every person in the world.”

Hollywood has been buzzing recently with rumors of meddling fathers!

First we heard about Papa Joe Simpson, who has clearly been all up in daughter Jessica’s love life since the Nick Lachey days. Supposedly, new beau Tony Romo laid down the law for Jess – if they got back together, dad had to butt out! Joe makes no apologies for his heavy handed managerial style, saying that as a father he is only working in his daughter’s best interests. Umm, hey, Mr. S…acting as a media pimp doesn’t really count as “best interests”!

Tony and Jessica are still on shaky grounds, and Joe isn’t helping. Word is that he’s now pushing Tony to ditch his current manager, and appoint Joe in charge instead. Let’s hope Tony Romo mans up off the field as well as on, and holds firm with the wannabe dad-ager.

Next came reports of Britney’s dad – and savior – Jamie Spears. After pulling his daughter back from the brink, Jamie is now rumored to be taking the control a bit too far. The magazines are saying that Jamie has been buttering Kevin up with golf trips, expensive watches, and the promise of a generous multi-million dollar account…contingent on him getting back together with ex-wife Britney Spears.

Supposedly the 5 mil isn’t enough, though, and K-Fed is holding out for more cash! Personally we hope they get back together, if only because Brit didn’t start flashing her naughty bits and acting loco until after Kevin was gone. Maybe those two crazy kids are actually meant to be together! See how happy they look here….

Ashlee Simpson and new husband Pete Wentz have gone on the record about their baby bump…they’re for sure expecting a bundle of joy! Word is that Papa Joe insisted on a shotgun wedding, and we’re not surprised. Meanwhile, Jessica Simpson is said to be heartbroken over the success of her little sister. She’s been talking quite a bit about marrying beau Tony Romo, and making some babies with him – but it seems that Tony found it all a bit too much, too soon. Maybe Jess should pay extra attention to the upcoming film He’s Just Not That Into You.

In much more surprising baby drama news, former American Idol runner up Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy soon. The mommy-to-be is his 50 year old producer/BFF, Jaymes Foster. This does nothing to clear up rumors of Clay preferring the company of gentleman, though, because the pregnancy is reported to be due to artificial insemination. No matter how the baby was made, he or she is sure to have an incredible voice!

First it was Beyonce and Jay Z…then Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon…now Hollywood has been rocked by two more super secret surprise weddings! Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz sent out impromptu invites last week, but their wedding still caught us off guard. Jessica Alba and Cash Warren went even more incognito, announcing early this week that they wed last weekend!

People magazine reports that the Ashlee Simpson/Pete Wentz wedding had a gothic feel, with the couple’s beloved bulldog “Hemmingway” as the ringbearer! The pop/punk couple had an Alice in Wonderland theme, complete with a topsy turvy wedding cake made of layers shaped like teapots and top hats. Ashlee went with a traditional gown and veil, with gorgeous diamond jewelry as accents. Pete wore a tux and a white bow tie, and Maid of Honor Jessica Simpson wore a chic black dress. Despite heavy rumors about a baby on the way, the couple is still denying that the wedding was pregnancy related. Guess we’ll have to wait about, oh, four more months, max, before we know for sure!

No details are available on the Cash Warren and Jessica Alba wedding, but hopefully pictures will surface soon! We know one thing for sure – there weren’t any pregnancy “rumors” for these nuptials. Alba’s baby bump has been common knowledge for a while now, but we’re sure she looked as stunning as always when she wed. She has consistently been ranked as one of Hollywood’s sexiest stars, and that mommy-to-be glow has only made her more gorgeous!
