JJ’s Dirt reports that the new Mrs. Cannon is hitting up friends and family for presents – even though no one was invited to any wedding festivities! JJ has a quote from an insider, stating that “Mariah’s assistant, Gina, sent out over 100 e-mails to her wealthy friends letting them know that she’s registered at Bergdorf Goodman if they want to buy her a present. It’s odd because she’s not even having a big wedding party or anything. It was assumed they’d have a big celebration when they got back, but no. They just want the gifts.” The source also reported that Mariah and Nick added “fine china and very expensive silver stemware” to the registry.

Hey Mariah – we saw your MTV Cribs episode…we know you ain’t hurting for home furnishings! JJ suggests that, if anything, a donation to a favorite charity would be an appropriate request. We’re shocked that Carey and Cannon would engage in such an obvious social faux pas. Given Nick’s success in music, movies, and television, and Mariah’s multi-platinum record sales, this all seems pretty standard, right? Wrong!

As soon as Mariah was seen sporting her bling, fans and media alike noticed something a bit suspicious. Just last year, Nick was engaged to Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks, and her ring looked an awful lot like the one now worn by Ms. Carey - or should we say Ms. Cannon?! Further gossip reports that an impromptu Cannon and Carey wedding happened in a tropical location just last week. The timing has raised eyebrows, though, because Mariah just happens to have released a new album, while Nick has four films coming out in the next year. Seems like a prime time to generate some buzz, dontcha think?

We’ve seen the pictures, and the two rings do look remarkably similar. Even if they aren’t the exact same piece of bling, you’d think that the reigning pop diva would demand something a bit more unique.
