This past week, the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge, William and Kate Middleton, made headlines at the 10th Annual Absolute Return for Kids charity gala. This was the couple’s very first official public appearance, since their fairy tale royal wedding in April. Nonetheless, Kate Middleton looked as stunning as ever. A-List stars flocked to Kensington Palace for the event in London, England.
The new Dutchess of Cambridge sat next to Prince Pavlos of Greece, while her husband Prince William sat nestled between Marle Chantal of Greece and Debbie Van Bismarck. Even though Middleton wasn’t seated next to William, Kate still stole the spotlight, wearing a ravishing rose-colored, silk tulle gown, exclusively from British designer Jenny Packham’s 2011 collection, complete with Swarovski crystal and sequin beading. Kate completed her look with a matching pair of rose-colored heels, by L.K. Bennett, along with a pair of gorgeous drop earrings. Get Kate’s A-List look with Frangiska’s Faux Pearl Bridal Earrings, only by Emitations.
Some of the world’s heavy hitters donated some serious cash to the program. Entrance to the event alone cost $16,000. Other celebrity attendees included Liz Hurley, Colin Firth, and Kevin Spacey to name a few. The Absolute Return for Kids (ARK) charity event raised more money than ever (a whopping $28.1 million dollars), which delivers health, education, and child protection programs to children all over the globe. As we count the days until Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s wedding, MyFoxNY.com has joined the craze in celebrating the Wedding of the Year, and featured a Special Style Edition in honor of the royal event. Their focus: the world’s obsession with Kate and her classic style. The video discusses her infectious fashions, and how she has launched relatively unknown designers into instant stardom by wearing their designs.
Sasha Charnin Morrison, the Style Director for Us Weekly magazine reports on how to achieve Kate‘s signature look for less. Along with the famous blue Issa dress Kate wore to announce her engagement to the Prince, MyFoxNY.com also features the best in imitation sapphire looks. Price William romantically proposed to his bride with Princess Diana‘s famous sapphire engagement ring. Morrison says Emitations’ version is the “perfect jewel” for someone who wants to achieve a royal look. Our Kate Middleton Inspired Ring was deemed the “exact” match for less. A Brides.com blog, Brides Daily, recently featured our Kate Middleton Inspired Engagement Ring in an article titled, “Get Kate Middleton‘s Royal Look…For Less!” The November 19, 2010 article, announced that Kate is “another style icon in the making!” Everything she has been photographed wearing has turned to gold, at least in the sense that everyone buys one for themselves. Our Inspired by Kate Middleton Engagement Ring is perfect if you are looking to steal this royal style for less! Brides.com suggests wearing the sapphire ring with the matching sapphire pendant necklace, but “unless you’re an heir to the crown, understatement is best.”
This year the remark, Happy Holidays!, seems synonymous with, Congratulations on your Engagement! There must be something in the water because winter of 2010 has seen a huge surge in celebrity engagements. We have counted over 15 announcements in the past 2 months! Everyone from Prince William and Kate Middleton to the Playboy couple, Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris, has announced their very happy news.
Part of the fun of hearing engagement news, especially one between wealthy stars, is seeing what the engagement ring looks like. An engagement ring is a beautiful outward symbol of the love and connection a couple has for each other.
Recently, Prince William proposed to longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton, with a sentimental ring. He gave Kate the ring his mother, Princess Diana, wore. The iconic ring features a large sapphire surrounded by a starburst of gleaming diamonds. The stunning blue ring is a one of a kind treasure.
America’s sweetheart, Reese Witherspoon, recently announced her engagement to CAA agent, Jim Toth. Jim chose a rare Ashoka cut diamond engagement ring to give to Reese, reportedly costing around $250,000. Emitations offers a much more affordable, yet similarly dazzling version of Reese Witherspoon’s engagement ring. The top rated Norah’s Vintage Engagement Ring is a great way to achieve that emerald cut stone look.
As of Christmas Eve, 2010, Playboy mogul, Hugh Hefner is on his way to yet another marriage. Hugh and fiancée, Crystal Harris, both confirmed their engagement via Twitter, where Hugh said Crystal burst into tears among sight of the $90,000 ring! The classic-looking ring features a large, 3 carat diamond, prong set on a platinum and diamond band. Our Emitations version, Ruth’s Promise Ring, allows you to mimic the same sparkle as Crystal Harris’ engagement ring, but without the magazine mogul cost!
LeAnn Rimes officially announced her Christmas Eve, 2010 engagement toEddie Cibrian. Eddie proposed to the country cutie with a 5 carat oval diamond ring. LeAnn’s engagement ring is estimated around $85,000. This ring has a simple, yet polished design with a split band that adds an extra layer of sparkle and glam.
Congrats to Lydia! See a snippet of her winning entry:
“I would pick William, because he seems like such a gentleman, shy and softly spoke like his beautiful mother, whereas Harry had a bit of a wild streak a few years ago and seems more fiery! William reminds me of my boyfriend because he is so… tall, so quiet and polite, they are always the best ones!! I have loved this ring for years and would really be very grateful to be lucky enough to win it and would treat it with tender loving care for many years to come! Kate was lucky enough to find her Prince, and in William I think she has… found the best one. I was lucky enough to finally find my Prince this year too and so winning this ring would be the perfect end to the perfect year and the best start for my birthday next week!! Then myself and Kate would not only share the same birthday…but I would also have a great imitation of her beautiful engagement ring, steeped in so much love and history.”
We want to know…Who would you pick as your prince – the older son, William, or the younger redhead, Harry?

The whole world is buzzing about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement, so of course everyone tuned in for their first official interview. Tom Bradby of ITV News got the exclusive sit-down with the royal couple, and Wills spilled about how he proposed to Kate in Kenya:
“I had been carrying it around with me in my rucksack for about three weeks before that and I literally would not let it go, everywhere I went I was keeping hold of it because I knew this thing, if it disappeared I would be in a lot of trouble and because I’d planned it, it went fine. You hear a lot of horror stories about proposing and things going horribly wrong – it went really, really well and I was really pleased she said yes.”
William: It is a family ring, yes. It’s my mother’s engagement ring so I thought it was quite nice because obviously she’s not going to be around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all – this was my way of keeping her close to it all.
TB: I guess we better have a look at it. What kind of ring is it, are you an expert?
William: I’m not an expert. I’ve been reliably informed it’s a sapphire with some diamonds. I’m sure everyone recognizes it from previous times.
Miss Middleton: It’s beautiful.
TB: Kate, you’re going to be the envy of many?
Miss Middleton: Well, I just hope I look after it.
Miss Middleton: It’s very, very special.
Already there seem to be two opposing viewpoints on William giving Princess Diana’s ring to Kate Middleton. Some people feel that the ring is a bad idea, and perhaps even cursed! They note that Diana and Charles were ultimately not happy with one another, and that doesn’t bode well for the new couple. Some have mentioned that it seems disrespectful to Diana’s memory to gift her legendary ring to a new princess. Others (like us here at Team Emitations!) think it is a beautiful and sentimental gesture. Prince William could have selected a brand new engagement ring for Kate Middleton, or had Diana’s sapphire re-set. Instead, he kept the original design intact as a way of linking his new bride to his beloved mother. It brings tears to our eyes just thinking about it!
The official announcement has been made – Prince William and Kate Middleton are engaged! The royal fiances made their debut at Clarence House, where Kate was photographed wearing the infamous Princess Diana engagement ring. Will we ever be able to think of it as Kate Middleton’s engagement ring? (Or more accurately, Catherine Middleton’s engagement ring, since she has decided to go by her formal name now!) Probably not, but we doubt that Kate minds much! The world is still very much in love with the legendary Princess Diana engagement ring – a stunning oval cut sapphire surrounded by diamonds. Now we can see it in action as Kate Middleton’s engagement ring from Prince William! This sentimental gift says more about welcoming her into the family then any new ring ever could. After a nearly decade long engagement and plenty of media speculation and ridicule, “Waty Katy” gets the last laugh as the newest princess-to-be with possibly the best engagement ring ever…
