Oft-engaged celebutante Paris Hilton now has a fourth marriage proposal under her belt! Her current beau, minor league baseball player (and major player on MTV’s The Hills), Doug Reinhardt, was said to have popped the question just this week. Apparently Doug went the traditional route, and got down on one knee during dinner with Paris and her parents. He even Twittered about the event hours earlier, saying “I’m about to do something very exciting and life-changing. I’ll announce what happens later.” How romantic, right? Wrong!

After being presented with a Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring, Paris closed the ring box and said she needed time to think. As they left the restaurant that evening, onlookers reported that Doug looked “devastated”. Poor Doug! We’re sure he assumed she would say yes, since they’ve been very public about how in love they are. Plus, Paris has accepted not one, not two, but three marriage proposals already. What’s one more?!

Model Jason Shaw proposed to Paris in 2002, giving her a gigantic canary diamond engagement ring. A few years later, in 2005, Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis gave Paris a now infamous emerald cut diamond engagement ring worth over $4.7 million. Then, just last year, Benji Madden and Paris Hilton were rumored to be engaged. Paris confirmed suspicions when she appeared on the David Letterman show and discussed her plans to marry Benji. Apparently Paris was burnt out on traditional diamonds, because this time she rocked a pave diamond ring with the initials BM on her left ring finger. Not surprisingly, this engagement didn’t work out either. So can you blame her for being a bit shy the fourth time around? On second thought, that doesn’t sound like Paris at all…

“Another thing I keep getting are emails from you guys, calls from family, flowers from friends congratulating me on my engagement. They said they read some story the other day saying that when Doug and I went to dinner with my parents the other night that he proposed and I declined. This never happend, I dont know where they come up with these stories sometimes. All we did was have a lovely dinner at my mom’s favorite restaurant. We had all been together on My BFF Show set all day shooting scenes for this upcoming season. It was histerical and a lot of fun. But I will tell you this, Doug is an amazing guy and I feel very lucky that we found each other. We’ve been friends the past year now and have became very close. He’s my best friend, we are so much alike, we love to travel and we have the most incredible time together no matter where we are. I’ve never been happier. He truly treats me like his princess and that’s how every girl should always be treated, Never forget that ladies. My parents love him too, so I’m really happy about that. I love his parents as well, they are such a lovely family. His mother is stunning, so beautiful, sweet, funny and smart. We all had such an amazing time in Maui together, so I’m glad Doug’s getting to know my family as well.”
